KAIJU MASTERCLASS (KM) has announced a special livestream presentation on the 19-film career of Takashi Yamazaki, the director of the upcoming 2023 Toho Godzilla film. The livestream will be hosted by KM alum Kevin Derendorf, with Kaiju Transmissions podcast host Kyle Byrd joining after for Audience Q&A.
The livestream will happen this Saturday, February 11, 2023, 4pm PST/7pm EST on the Kaiju Masterclass YouTube channel. For those unfamiliar, Kaiju Masterclass has a back catalogue of fantastic interviews with numerous individuals involved in the production of kaiju and tokusatsu media, as well as experts on the genre. Some of our favorite guests on KM include Norman England (Author of Behind the Kaiju Curtain: A Journey onto Japan’s Biggest Film Sets), Michiru Oshima (Godzilla X Megaguirus, Godzilla X Mechagodzilla, Composer), Reijiro Koroku (The Return of Godzilla Composer), and Ryuhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars Director).
Yamazaki previously directed Always Sunset on Third Street 2, which most kaiju fans will remember having a Godzilla cameo in a dream sequence, paving the way for modern incarnations of Godzilla!
