In one of the most long overdue reveals in reprinting comics, Marvel announced this week that a deal had been made with Toho Co., Ltd, and the comic giant will be reprinting its classic 1970s run of Godzilla comics! The hardcover omnibus edition collects all 24 monster smashing issues of Doug Moench, Herb Trimpe, and Tom Sutton’s Godzilla, King of the Monsters, the Bronze Age cult classic run captivating True Believers from 1977 to 1979. Of course, the omnibus is coming next year (October) to mark the 70th anniversary of Godzilla! Previously, these Godzilla comics were reprinted in omnibus format, but lacking any kind of color printing, via the “Marvel Essentials” line. That omnibus has been long out of print, so a brand-new one, printed in full color, is a treat for Godzilla and comic book fans!

Marvel’s take on Japan’s greatest export represented an incredible creative collaboration between two comic book pioneers: Doug Moench, known for his definitive run of MASTER OF KUNG FU and co-creating Moon Knight, and Herb Trimpe, known for his seminal work on INCREDIBLE HULK and IRON MAN.
