The inaugural event was held last August with much fanfare and excitement. KG 1 was headlined by special guests such as Rondo-award winning artist Bob Eggleton and John Yurcaba IV of IDW Publishing.

Held in the now closed Isis Theater, the event was filled to the brim with toys, art, and a whole bunch of kaiju fans.

The 2024 event will give us a new venue with the iconic Texas Theater in downtown Dallas, a new August 17 date, and two new special guests! KAIJU GO is roaring to have another eventful year!

Check out the details below.

SPECIAL GUESTS:

Kaiju Go on Mark Nagata:

“The amazing career of MARK NAGATA has covered everything from R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps to the origins of Super7, from his own globally-acclaimed vinyl toy enterprise, Max Toy Company, to being the subject of an exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum. His art has graced auction houses, music videos, and galleries from Tokyo to Barcelona to Chicago -and at the core of every piece is Mark’s deep love for the tokusatsu genre. Mark’s son, MAX, is one of the most sought-after young artists in the space. Though a comic book colorist by trade, Max’s paint work on sofubi has made a big splash with collectors, including his collaborations with artists like Frank Mysterio, Magitarius, Wonder Goblin, and Last Bastion Studios. “

Film Screenings

KG2024 will kick off with a retro screening of the much beloved 1974 classic, Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla. The film features the debut of the big G’s iconic metallic doppelganger and boasts a wonderful jazz-esque soundtrack by Masaru Sato. Perhaps Jun Fukuda’s finest hour in the Godzilla franchise.

Following Mechagodzilla, KG will present the 2nd entry in the Heisei series, 1989’s Godzilla vs Biollante. Much beloved by fans, the entry is famous for its uniqueness in monster origin and thematic elements. Oh, and the iconic Saradian Agent. Can’t forget about him.

It also appears that there will be a screening of something from 1966’s Ultraman television show. Those details will come at a later date.

Are you excited for Kaiju Go? Sound off! Sofubi fans are in for a wonderful event filled with the kaiju love we all share.
