First Look at Gareth Edwards’ ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ Unveiled

A new adventure 65 million years in the making will roar into your local cinemas on July 2, 2025! Revealed today by Universal Pictures, the official title for Jurassic World 4 is in fact, ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’! The film is helmed by Gareth Edwards, most familiar to kaiju fans for directing the films Monsters and of course, the 2014 Legendary Pictures revival of Godzilla. The screenplay is being written by original Jurassic Park scribe, David Koepp, based on characters created by Michael Chrichton. Veteran Jurassic producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will return, with Steven Spielberg,  Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer serving as Executive Producers.

In the film, set five years after Jurassic World: Dominion, the dinosaurs have been regulated to their own individual biospheres – a far cry from the previous film’s “planet of the dinosaurs” approach. Despite this, their DNA has clues to unlock some major cures for mankind, so a group of individuals begin “racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air.” Additionally, there are references to characters being a part of “Big Pharma”, trying the Crichton themes of cautionary science and human development back into the series tenfold.

The film stars several big Hollywood players, including Scarlett Johannsson and Mahershala Ali, with Jonathan Bailey rounding out the main cast. Also starring in the film are Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda. According to Universal Pictures, Johannsson plays plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who is contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic prehistoric creatures, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.
