Jack O’Connell Cast in Grant Sputore’s ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel

More casting updates are rolling in for the follow-up to 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Per Deadline, the actor best known for roles in Back to Black and his acclaimed portrayal of World War II veteran Louis Zamperini in Unbroken, will be meeting the two most iconic giant monsters in cinema history in 2027. Character details are being kept fairly secret this time around, but the rumor mill suggests he may or may not be playing the sister to Kaitlyn Dever, who was previously announced to be joining the cast just a few weeks prior. Both are joined by returning fan favorite Dan Stevens, who reprises his role as veterinarian Trapper Beasley from Godzilla x Kong.

Grant Sputore is locked in as director of the film, previously known for his Sundance-premiered hit I Am Mother, with a screenplay by David Callaham. Details on the story have been a mystery thus far, but Deadline was told “The next entry will feature several new human characters alongside Titans Godzilla and Kong, as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”
