The 2025 remake of the 1975 Toei tokusatsu classic is approaching! On April 1st, 2015, Netflix unveiled a brand new look at the upcoming Bullet Train Explosion, directed by Shinji Higuchi. This new trailer shows off more adrenaline-inducing action and suspense than before, as the story pits the Japanese government against a mysterious criminal who has hid a bomb on a shinkansen liner for a ransom. The film stars Tsuyoshi Kusanagi as the lead, alongside other familiar faces of tokusatsu, such as Jun Kaname and Takumi Saito. For more details on this film, we covered them previously on Kaiju United.
Eagle-eyed viewers may recognize Pierre Taki (Attack on Titan, Shin Godzilla) in a currently unknown role. Could he be taking on Ken Takakura’s performance as the bomber?
Netflix has also revealed a new poster, featuring artwork by Kyle Lambert, who prior has done promotional art for Stranger Things and One Piece.
Translation: Key art for Netflix movie “Bullet Train Explosion” announced!
This is the first art for a Japanese video work by Kyle Lambert, who has also worked on “Stranger Things” and the live-action “One Piece” series.
The tasteful finish is reminiscent of handwritten signs from the Showa era.
Bullet Train Explosion will release April 23rd, 2025 on Netflix.
