‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Star Alycia Debnam-Carey Joins Cast of ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel

As the yet untitled sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire begins production in Australia, another cast member has been officially revealed thanks to Deadline. Alycia Debnam-Carey, best known for starring in all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead, will be joining Kaitlyn Dever, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, and Dan Stevens in the newest installment of Legendary’s MonsterVerse.

Character details, like the rest of the cast members, are being kept under wraps, but it is worth noting, as Deadline pointed out, that this will reunite Debnam-Carey with her Apple Cider Vinegar co-star, Kaitlyn Dever. Other notable roles from the Walking Dead star include It’s What’s Inside, a horror comedy that Netflix acquired distribution from out of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, as well as previous stints in The 100 and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. She has also since started directing, helming the seventh season episode “Ofelia” of Fear the Walking Dead.

Plot details are still being kept pretty secretive as well, with Deadline only being provided the same synopsis with each new addition to the cast. Per Legendary, “The film features several new human characters alongside Titans Godzilla and Kong, as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.” With Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire becoming the highest-grossing entry in Legendary’s MonsterVerse to date, there are some kaiju-sized shoes to fill with Sputore’s outing. KU intrigued by this new “cataclysmic, world-ending threat,” and we’re sure that fan speculation is running rampant about whether or not it is a familiar Toho foe or a brand new threat invented for the film.

Stay tuned for further updates on Kaiju United regarding Grant Sputore’s next MonsterVerse film! With production now underway, things are heating up.
