‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Event Horizon’ Star Sam Neill Joins the MonsterVerse

Alan Grant has ditched the dinosaurs for an even bigger prehistoric lizard!

Revealed today by Deadline, the iconic and beloved Sam Neill will be joining the cast of the yet-to-be-named sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Like the previous casting updates, there is no word on who his character is playing as of this time. But, he will be joined by Kaitlyn Dever, who is headlining the film, alongside Jack O’Connell, who will portray the brother of Dever’s character, and Dan Stevens, reprising his Godzilla x Kong role of the humorous and joyful veterinarian, Trapper.

Deadline adds, “The film is said to place several new human characters alongside Titans Godzilla and Kong, as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat. Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is directing from a script by Shang-Chi‘s Dave Callaham, taking over the directorial reins from Adam Wingard following his work on The New Empire and Godzilla vs. Kong.”

Some of Sam Neill’s other roles have included stints in the horror genre, such as John Carpenter’s In The Mouth of Madness, and Event Horizon. He has also performed in other dramatic roles, appearing in The Piano and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He previously reprised his role as Alan Grant in 2001’s Jurassic Park III and most recently, 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion.
