Takashi Yamazaki Set to Direct Another Godzilla Ride

Just when you thought Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki could not get any busier, he’s now added a brand-new theme park attraction to his list of new projects. Exclusively announced by Godzilla.com yesterday, in between development on the sequel to Minus One and his new project, Grandgear, that has been picked up by Sony, Yamazaki-san will be creating a new ride attraction to debut this summer. Previously, Mr. Yamazaki directed Godzilla The Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle, which operates at Seibuen Amusement Park in Tokorozawa City, Saitama, Japan.

Not much is known about this new attraction, but Yamazaki-san did add this comment to the press release:

“I’m thrilled to return to Godzilla’s world from the passenger seat”, wrote Yamazaki in an official press release. “What powerful foes will emerge? Where will this ride take us next? As a ride enthusiast myself, I can’t wait for my first spin—and I’m working day and night with our team to make this the most terrifying ride in the world.”

This new ride is aiming to outshine the original in all aspects, with multiple locations intended for this ride to operate at, utilizing Taiwan’s Brogent Technologies, Inc.’s iRide system. That’s right, this new ride will be in multiple theme parks, not just Seibuen this go around. Additional details are to be revealed at a later date, including the name of the ride and the potential monsters that may or may not appear alongside the King of the Monsters.

Based on the preview image, it seems as if the ride may take elements from the boat chase sequence seen in the Minus One film, but that has not been confirmed by any sources as of right now. Stay tuned for more details as they come in on Kaiju United!
