Marvel and Toho’s anticipated crossover miniseries Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe is inching closer, and the latest news brings great excitement. Following Godzilla’s epic symbiote spectacle in Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, Venomzilla will make a return in Issue #2 to rampage through Manhattan. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, however, will have to team up with rather untraditional company to put a stop to Big G. Writer Gerry Dugan and artist Javier Garrón are joined by artist Paco Medina for this epic story’s second installment.
What has been unveiled is probably one of the coolest lineups of variant covers so far during these last months of Godzilla/Marvel crossover comics. Each one features excellent art that blends together the best parts of both worlds with a visceral tone. Mark Brooks (main) brings it with a dark and eye-catching Venomzilla Symbiote cover. A GMK Godzilla with red eyes and the white shadows of the Avengers hovering over him haunts Andrea Sorrentino’s stunning cover, while John Tyler Christopher’s King Ghidorah Action Figure cover is a unique collector’s piece. Acclaimed artist Stonehouse delivers again with a spectacularly solid Spider-Man cover, but rounding off the group is a crossover that maybe no one was expecting, but one that everyone needed: a Ghost-Rider Mechagodzilla cover by Dave Watcher.
