Special thanks to Avery Guerra, Jeff Horne, and G-FEST.

We’ve got another exclusive scoop on the upcoming G-FEST Film Festival happening this July! After previously announcing the Italian/American co-production H010N, Kaiju United can also reveal that the fun throwback to classic drive-in monster movies of the ’50s and ’60s, Venus Die Trap, will finally be making its World Premiere during the beloved film festival! The team that runs the G-FEST Film Festival works tirelessly to promote independent filmmakers creating unique and engaging monster movies, so if you’re looking for a fun movie akin to The Deadly Mantis or The Giant Behemoth, or heck, even the classic Roger Corman Little Shop of Horrors, this indie production is right up your alley!

The film’s synopsis from SRS Cinema reads, “On the tranquil coastal plains of North Carolina, a meteor crash triggers a chain of events straight out of a B-movie nightmare. Mysterious ooze from the meteor seeps into the soil, transforming the once harmless venus fly traps into towering, carnivorous monstrosities. As chaos descends upon the unsuspecting town, a determined botany student and a skeptical rookie deputy must unite to confront the growing menace. Together, they embark on a perilous quest to unravel the mystery behind the mutations and save their community from the clutches of the ravenous Venus DIE Traps. With its blend of retro charm, suspenseful thrills, and campy humor, “Venus DIE Trap” will take audiences on a wild ride reminiscent of the classic monster movies of the 1950s and 1960s.”

On the film’s IndieGoGo page, SRS Cinema owner Ron Bonk added, “Interestingly, Bobby pitched me this idea during my recent call for scripts, and I loved it. Monster movies are always a favorite, and being inspired by movies like Day of the Triffids, one of my all-time favorites, made it a no-brainer for SRS. Bobby’s work reflects a true love of the genre. He grew up on these movies, and he knows how to make them. If you’ve seen his other work for us, including the chilling Woke, and the hilarious yet scary Amityville Ripper, you know this man has mad talent and an amazing troop of cast and crew regulars to deliver the goods!”

The film is directed by Bobby Canipe Jr., and stars Ryan Martel (Grandma), Josh Allman (Amityville Ripper), Rudy Ledbetter (Arena Wars), Jessica Flux (Murdercise), and film critic/personality Dom Coccaro.
