‘Hot Spring Shark Attack’ Tickets Are Now on Sale, VOD Release Confirmed

Have you ever wanted to see an independent Tokustatsu film on the big screen in your hometown? You’ve got your chance! Independent film distributor Utopia has announced that Hot Spring Shark Attack will be playing on limited Alamo Drafthouse screens beginning July 9, after its North American Premiere at the Chattanooga Film Festival, and just in time for its screening at the G-FEST Film Festival that same weekend. The film opens for a wider splash in theaters on July 11, with a same-day VOD release across the U.S. and Canada. Tickets are now on sale for the theatrical release of Hot Spring Shark Attack, so if you’re wanting to see this feeding frenzy up close, you’ll wanna get your tickets ASAP!

The film’s synopsis reads: “In a small hot spring town in Japan, a ferocious ancient shark reawakens and begins terrorizing the local hot spring facilities. As the threat escalates, the townspeople band together to protect their beloved town from the menacing predator, leading to a fierce and thrilling battle.”

Hot Spring Shark Attack was designed to promote local tourism amongst hot spring resorts (specifically Atami City for this production), with the filmmakers intending to boost awareness of the cultural importance of hot springs all over Japan. The film’s worldwide crowdfund adds to this, stating: “Hot Spring Shark Attack will lead to an increase in tourism and promotion of Atami City. Creating a film on the topic of onsen will lead to an increase in movies being shot at the many onsens throughout Japan. Onsens are of course popular destinations for the Japanese, but overseas tourists also enjoy them. The perfect destination for sharks to come out!”
