First Official Teaser Trailer Drops for Malaysia’s First Giant Monster Movie!

The teaser trailer for the upcoming giant monster movie Abu: The Giant (ABU Si RAKSASA) has been released to social media!

Synopsis: 

A monster appears in a dam near the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The monster, Abu, is Zaara’s “pet.” A pet that mutated due to chemical pollution. Zaara and Sofian join forces to save Abu from being eliminated by Lt. Fayyad Noah, who is assigned by the National Security Council to kill the monster. Will Abu be saved?

Co-produced by M Toons Media and Tune Production. Development began in 2022, with filming starting in September 2023 and going until October of the same year. The original story for the film was crafted by Fakhry Zaen, who co-wrote the film alongside Lakun Layar, and director Ramdan Che Hassan [also editor and VFX director] (Jengka, Antaramasa). Produced by Zamin Fakry Zainol with executive producers Datuk Anis Aziz, Daito’ Muhammad, Shukor Kamarudin, and Abid Danish Rizal.

The film’s original soundtrack was produced by Ajai and Kozae, titled “SHOT” with vocals by Yunk-G. The soundtrack is slated to be released digitally July 2025 by Indigital Music in collaboration with Wake The Baby Records.

The film was produced in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, Ministry of Communications, and Creative Arts Initiative.  The film was to be released in November 2024, is now set to be released to theaters in its native country beginning September 11th, 2025, after being cleared by the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia in March 2025 by Empire Film Solutions.
