If you look closely, you can see Mechagodzilla as a “skeleton” within the figure, complete with finger missiles and that cold, robotic stare. Of course, this is a nod to the classic Showa Era film, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974), in which the devious Black Hole Planet 3 aliens have given their robotic creation a fake Godzilla skin to wear, fooling everyone into thinking that it is indeed the real Godzilla. Later on, the ruse is up, and Mechagodzilla completely sheds its skin, revealing the iconic 1970’s design. It’s a unique and interesting way to convey such an iconic moment in Godzilla’s history in figure form.
The first colorway option available to collectors is a dazzling canary yellow that brilliantly contrasts Godzilla’s charcoal grey coloration. Godzilla’s dorsal spines, tail, and limbs are given a dash of yellow that seamlessly transitions into the figure’s translucent features. The second colorway option available to collectors is a “glow” red that gives a clever homage to Godzilla’s “Burning” appearance in 1995’s Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, giving a fun 2-in-1 for different eras in the Godzilla series.
