The world of Marvel continues to struggle to get Godzilla out of their hair in this jam-packed third issue of the epic crossover saga. Fans of Marvel and Godzilla’s other groundbreaking crossover line, Godzilla vs. Marvel, will be delighted that the King of the Monsters and the X-Men have a rematch after their previous bout in the series’ fourth issue ‘Godzilla vs. X-Men.’ This time, even Magneto gets involved to stop the seemingly unstoppable dark-hearted Godzilla. Nightcrawler, Rogue, Colossus, Jean Grey, and Gambit also make appearances to join in on the fun on what is overall a great issue.
After Godzilla was sent to the Astral Plane, he kicked around the Dread Doromaru so badly that he sent Big G back to Earth, this time on the island of Matripoor. Most of the issue takes place here, but meanwhile in Wakanda, Black Panther is rushing to complete a fighting machine to challenge Godzilla. Eventually, everyone works together to lure Godzilla towards Wakanda so that Black Panther can enact his plan. It speaks volumes to how powerful Godzilla is in this series when every strong being involved fears his rage that is “greater than Hulk’s.”
Speaking of Hulk, Bruce Banner is a big part of Black Panther’s plan. And this plan involves vibranium, so expect another colossal rematch next issue!

Gerry Duggan is steadily moving the plot along and is doing a great job of getting everyone involved. Last issue with Fin Fang Foom, this issue with Magneto and some more X-Men. The humor is definitely still present, but very clever and charming. Particularly Magneto’s reaction when his attack against Godzilla fails. This issue is mostly action, but there are tidbits of more explicit writing moments to give Godzilla more character.

The art from Javier Garron is as usual very solid. The dark lighting and atmosphere really fit the scenes at play well, considering the dark color palettes of the characters and powers involved. Each page feels equally massive as the one previous, and it’s quite entertaining to see Wolverine jump on Godzilla like he is a flea.
Overall, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe’ 3 is a solid entry in what has been a solid series. The plot is moving along and the colossal battle that is teased for next issue would leave any big monster fan excited. As a plus, it is a fun time to watch all the different forces in the Marvel world come together to take down one giant threat, and a giant threat in this series Godzilla indeed is.
Issue 4 will be released on October 15th, 2025. Check out all the variant covers from Dave Watcher, Jeremy Wilson, and more!
