Alamo Drafthouse Announces Godzilla Merch & Heisei Screening

The Godzilla Day announcements have begun. Toho International and Alamo Drafthouse have announced a special collaboration to celebrate the occasion, providing g-fans with a rare screening at all Alamo Drafthouse locations, merchandise collaborations, and more. Starting October 27th, a special popcorn bucket, t-shirts, mugs, and more will become available for collectors to enjoy on AlamoMart, and a special screening of 1984’s The Return of Godzilla will take place on November 3rd. Additionally, fans at the Godzilla-themed Westfield Valley Fair location will be able to experience a special kaiju Mystery Movie Marathon at the theatre on November 2nd.

The popcorn bucket is a first for the historic kaiju franchise. Designed by Alamo Drafthouse’s Scott Sugiuchi, and inspired by the classic 1960’s era of the Showa Godzilla films. Based on the preview image, it appears that this first bucket will be the MosuGoji suit, featured predominately in 1964’s Mothra vs. Godzilla, and remains a fan-favorite design for the King of the Monsters. Fans will want to pay attention, though, as it will be the first of a line of several more popcorn buckets planned to continue into 2026 and beyond. Each Showa Godzilla Popcorn Bucket will be numbered in a limited run of 6,000 and will come in a custom collector’s box. Fans will be able to get their hands on this popcorn bucket on Alamo Mart.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Toho International on this exclusive Godzilla Day celebration and first-of-its-kind merchandise collection,” said Chaya Rosenthal, Chief Marketing Officer at Alamo Drafthouse. “We know Alamo Drafthouse fans are Godzilla fans, and they’re going to lose their minds over these collectibles – from the Mothra Mug to the very first Godzilla-shaped popcorn bucket. As a lifelong Godzilla fan myself, I already have a spot saved in my display case for these incredible pieces. We couldn’t be more excited to share our love of all things kaiju and Godzilla at our Valley Fair theater and at all Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide.”

Godzilla celebrates its 71st Anniversary on November 3rd, with Toho seemingly having big plans to celebrate the King of the Monsters as the company continues to expand into North America with brand collaborations, screenings, and more.
