Adult Swim Premieres First Look at ‘Primal’ Season 3

Visionary director and animator Genndy Tartakovsky is back for more brutal action. Coming hot off the track of his recent animated film Fixed, Tartakovksy revives his bloody prehistoric adventure with this first look at season 3 of Primal. The show follows an early human, named Spear, and his adventures with dinosaur partner Fang in a violent, unforgiving world full of monstrous dinosaurs and other creatures who are set on killing them.

Season 2 ended back in 2022 on what seemed like a final goodbye to the character of Spear. This first look shows more of the fate of the beloved caveman, who is simply too angry to die. A zombified version of Spear seems to be fighting his way out of hell in order to get back to the life he had grown to love. The first look shows him not only fighting other undead creatures and violent monsters, but traversing a world unfamiliar to himself.

Season 3 of Primal is set to premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max in January of 2026, four years after the end of Season 2. Not much else has been revealed about the plot of the third season, so it is uncertain whether there will be much more revealed regarding the closing of Season 2. Regardless, this first look certainly shows a large, ambitious shift from the previous season, promising an exciting future for Spear and his adventures!
