Godzilla Fest 2025 has kicked off with a bang. Right out the gate, Toho gave viewers both online and in person a short teaser video announcing Godzilla Minus Zero, the 31st Japanese film in the historic and storied Godzilla franchise. While primary plot and character details are being kept under wraps, it was later confirmed this morning by The Hollywood Reporter that this film would be a “statement piece” and that, for the first time since 2004’s Godzilla: Final Wars, a Japanese Godzilla film would be leaving Japan and commence filming in Norway and New Zealand respectively. Needless to say, things are looking to be bigger and better with this follow-up to the Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One, with Takashi Yamazaki returning to write, direct, and supervise the visual effects.
