Netflix’s revitalization of the iconic Ambassador of Light has been nominated at this year’s Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced their full list of nominees today, honoring those that have gone above and beyond in children’s entertainment. The next ceremony will mark the fourth for the Academy, taking place in New York City on March 1st and 2nd of next year.
Ultraman: Rising has been nominated in three distinct categories: Outstanding Animated Special, Outstanding Original Song for a Children’s or Young Teen Program (“No Better”), and Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for an Animated Program. These three nominations come after a nomination for Best Feature at the 52nd Annual Annie Awards in December 2024 and for Outstanding Visual Effects in an Animated Feature and Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Animated Feature in the 23rd Annual VES Awards in January 2025. While the Netflix feature has yet to take home these prestigious awards, it did rank #2 on Netflix’s global top 10 on the the week of June 17-23, 2024, with 7.9 million views, according to Anime News Network.

The film’s Co-director, Shannon Tindle, commented on the nominations on social media, stating “I guess the journey isn’t over just yet! Thanks to the Television Academy, congrats to our nominees, and to every, single, person who helped make this film possible.”
Christopher Sean, who voices Ken Sato/Ultraman in the film, also made a celebratory post. “Voicing Ken Sato and Ultraman was already a dream. But THIS? This recognition for our entire team? I’m so incredibly proud and grateful.”
Ultraman: Rising is now streaming on Netflix. While there remains no word on what will come next for the storied franchise as it enters its milestone 60th Anniversary year in 2026, this remains a massive win for the film’s cast and crew, and for the kaiju genre as a whole.
