On November 29th, news broke in the kaiju sphere that a new Godzilla anime series was in development from Toho Animation, aiming for a global release sometime in the future. The studio revealed the new series live on stage at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025, along with a single piece of concept art and their synopsis for the show, before posting on the official @godzilla_jp account on X to share the news with the world. Along with this initial announcement, it was confirmed that Japanese animation studio Orange, the creators behind the 2021 kaiju anime Godzilla: Singular Point, and Thailand’s Igloo Studio, known for their A New Roar in Southeast Asia promotional animated short film, would be co-producing this anime alongside Toho Animation.

The official press release from Igloo Studio adds more commentary on the piece of concept art that was shared across major outlets, both anime-centric and kaiju-oriented, adding “the concept art revealed on stage depict a boy prepares to unleash an “Heat Ray” reminiscent of Godzilla. A boy who carries within him the power of a god of destruction that had always stood against humanity. Is he truly human, or … ? This bold first step for the series marks an exciting beginning—one that already leaves audiences eager for the story to be unveiled.”

As Godzilla celebrates its 71st Anniversary, there has been no bigger period for the King of the Monsters on an international scale, with the franchise astonishing audiences around the world.
