First Trailer Released For New Japanese Kaiju Film ‘Giladio’

After an initial announcement of the film, the very first trailer has been released for director Yoshikazu Ishii’s upcoming monster flick Giladio: The Giant Monster from Another World after a crowdfunding campaign in December 2024. The teaser offers a look at what viewers can expect from the film, with close-ups of the titular monster giving us a glimpse of the full creature’s design in motion. The shots of the kaiju are then followed up by some classic and very familiar tokusatsu effects, with military vehicle explosions and destruction happening left and right as a seemingly unstoppable monster ravages a city. It’s the familiar kaiju formula, but executed incredibly well with all practical effects.

The film’s official synopsis reads:
“One Sunday, Suzuki Reiichi and Morita Natsuko are on a typical date when they get involved in
an accident and lose consciousness. When they wake up, they find themselves in a virtual world
that appears to be an exact replica of the real world… Suddenly! A monster appears and goes
on a rampage… putting the two in danger. Will they be able to defeat the monster and return to
their real world, or will they never return?”

The project started as a crowdfunding campaign on Campfire, launched on December 7th, 2024,
and ended on January 31, 2025. It gathered a total of 1,707,000 yen (the equivalent of $10,685)
thanks to the contributions of its 107 supporters.
