‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 3D’ (1983) (First Draft)

In 1983, film director Steve Miner (Friday the 13th Part III, Lake Placid) acquired the North American rights to produce an American Godzilla film. After shopping it around to various studios, he hired Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) to develop a screenplay and William Stout (Creepshow) to handle the concept art & storyboards. Ultimately, Miner could not secure funding from a studio to develop this feature, and it was shelved. What Americans ended up getting was a localized version of 1984’s The Return of Godzilla, referred to as Godzilla 1985.

Since then, William Stout has released various storyboards he illustrated for this unreleased project on his website.

Below is the screenplay in full for our readers to experience.
