It is time for Godzilla fans to hit the tables and have plenty of fun! Announced on Godzilla Day (November 3rd, 2025), IDW Games has now officially launched Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game on Kickstarter, and the support is overwhelming! As of writing this article, with a full month to spare, the project has already hit its $60,000 goal with 576 backers!
Per IDW Games’ Kickstarter page, “Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game is the official card-based tabletop experience that puts you on the front lines of a world transformed by the rise of the kaiju. Based on the beloved world and stories of Godzilla—originally created in 1954 and reimagined by generations of storytellers since—this unique game immerses you in the world of the King of the Monsters, its awesome allies, and its fearsome foes.
Inspired by the Kai-Sei Era from IDW Publishing, this setting sees humanity forced to adapt to a new reality where kaiju roam the planet, a constant threat to land, sea, and sky. In this world of gods and monsters, you’re the boots on the ground. Every mission is a gamble against extinction, and every choice determines whether humanity lives to see another sunrise.”

The three Warhammer alumni – Jervis Johnson, Mark A. Latham, and Gav Thorpe – have reunited for their first co-created tabletop game. Players will be immersed in 12 exciting character classes, a pantheon of iconic kaiju from Godzilla to Hedorah to Destroyah to build your team around, and mechanics to build your very own kaiju!
For fans who want to pledge support and get a little something in return, IDW Games is offering a ton of cool memorabilia! The Kickstarter Core Physical Rulebook is available for $60, a play mat is available for $25, a 4.5 inch tall Godzilla miniature is available for $50, and a deluxe card deck for $15! There are also a variety of other rewards included in the tiers of pledges such as digital wallpapers and Volume 1 of the Kai-Sei Godzilla series on the IDW app.

Finally, uploaded yesterday to the official IDW Publishing YouTube channel, you can view a video from PAX Unplugged (November 21-23, 2025) to hear some testimonials from playtesters at the event! The players had nothing but good things to say about the new tabletop game. A playtester named CJ enthusiastically stated, “It was fantastic. When you have a game that’s so true to its flavor, so clean in its action, resolution, easy to learn, it was everything I want out of a single RPG experience. And the campaign potential is so huge.”
