Shortly after the new teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero premiered, X-Plus North America surprised fans with the reveal of one of the deepest-cut collectibles in Godzilla history. The company announced a brand-new Gigantis figure inspired by the 1957 Godzilla suit that was created for the never-made American adaptation of Godzilla Raids Again, originally titled The Volcano Monsters.

Although The Volcano Monsters was ultimately abandoned, Godzilla Raids Again still made its way to U.S. screens through Warner Bros. under the name Gigantis, the Fire Monster in 1959. In a smart move, X-Plus is releasing this figure under its Gigantis name.
The sculpt recreates the never-used 1957 suit; only several photos of the actual suit exist. X-Plus North America will release two versions of this; one will be an XPNA exclusive, featuring a green paint job inspired by the U.K. poster artwork for Gigantis, The Fire Monster. It’s a bit ironic, isn’t it? A Japanese monster, being released under its American name, with a paint scheme inspired by the U.K.

Collectors who would like to buy a more accurate look won’t be left out. A standard color version will also be released through various hobby shops and collectible retailers.

It’s very exciting to see an obscure piece of Godzilla history getting more attention, slowly but surely! This also marks the second time North America has received a figure based on this suit. The first one was the Super7 ReAction figure released several years ago.

Here’s to hoping X-Plus completes the set by bringing in Anguirus! Especially under its English name Angurus.
Pre-orders are now available and will remain open through August 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
