A professor in the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology at Meinshin University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where the main characters Ibuki, Emma, Kanna, Rintaro, and Bechi study.
Minobe is regarded as a leading authority in wildlife research. To him, kaiju are simply a new species of animal. He frequently risks his safety to collect samples and conduct research in the hope of uncovering their true nature. He has an odd verbal tic of expressing his emotions by naming brain chemicals such as dopamine, adrenaline, and oxytocin.
Comment from Makita Sports
Congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman series. When I was contacted about this commemorative project, I never thought I would be playing the role of Ultraman—and as it turns out, as expected, I’m not. I am Makita Sports, playing Junpei Minobe. I recall approaching the filming in a way that responded to the production team’s spirit of taking on new challenges. It is an honor to support the image of Ultraman in everyone’s hearts and to become a part of this history.

An investigator for the Unidentified Threat Task Force (UTTF), an international organization established jointly by the United Nations and NASA. She is dispatched to Japan to investigate the sudden appearance of Kaiju. She occasionally works alongside Professor Minobe to utilize his kaiju research. Over time, she begins to take an interest in the veterinary students connected to Meishin University’s Astronomy Club after noticing their mysterious ties to the kaiju incidents.
Comment from Rila Fukushima.
I am deeply honored to participate in Ultraman Teo. I feel a sense of solemnity at joining the world of Ultraman, which has been loved by many for so many years, and at being able to play a part in the history of tokusatsu—a culture Japan proudly shares with the world. I believe this work is full of energy and hope that can be enjoyed across generations. I look forward to the day it reaches all of you.
Ultraman Teo Series Outline
Created as the commemorative project for the Ultraman Series’ 60th anniversary, Ultraman Teo follows a lonely alien who arrives on Earth after losing his home planet. Taking the form of university student Ibuki Mitsuishi, played by Aoi Iwasaki, Teo struggles to adapt to life on Earth while confronting the growing threat of kaiju. As he encounters new friends and experiences human life firsthand, Ibuki must overcome his hesitation to fight to protect those around him. Transforming into the blue giant, he fights alongside his companions and grows into a true Ultraman, at the heart of what Tsuburaya describes as a “coming-of-age ensemble drama.”
