On July 2, 2026, a member of the Motobu Town Diving Association confirmed that stuntman and actor Hikaru Kurosaki (Born Seiki Kurosaki) had passed away at the age of 64. No official cause of death was revealed, though it was shared that he’d been battling an undisclosed illness.
Kurosaki’s passing marks another heartbreaking loss for the tokusatsu community. This year, fans have had to bid farewell to Kenji Ohba (Space Sheriff Gavan), Riichi Seike (who portrayed Sharivan in Kamen Rider x Super Sentai X Space Sheriff: Super Hero Taisen Z), and now Hikaru Kurosaki, the beloved star of the 1985 show MegaBeast Investigator Juspion. These performers defined an era of Japanese tokusatsu television through their incredible stunt work and acting, influencing many fans around the globe.
Kurosaki began his career with the Japan Action Club (JAC) during the late 1970s. Among his earliest works was a foot soldier in Toei’s 1978 Spider-Man. In 1980, he made his acting debut in the TV drama Yagyu Abare Tabi. Before landing the role of the iconic Metal Hero, Kurosaki made a memorable appearance in the 1984 Super Sentai series (Choudenshi Bioman). In Episodes 35 and 36, he portrayed Shota Yamamori (Magne Warrior). Even though he was only in the show for two episodes, fans still regard him as one of the earliest prototypes for the Sixth Ranger concept, years before Dragon Ranger’s debut in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.

His breakthrough role came the following year as he was cast as Juspion in Toei’s 1985 Metal Hero series MegaBeast Investigator Juspion. The show aired in Brazil on TV Manchete, making the hero an extraordinarily popular figure in the country. This iconic status culminated in his character appearing in a Brazilian exclusive comic book crossover with Zikuensi Spielban, as well as his own solo comic book series.

After his acting career had concluded, he stepped away from the entertainment industry in the 1990s and built a new life as a scuba diving instructor in Okinawa.
Following the announcement of his passing, fellow actor and stunt performer Hiroshi Watari (Boomerang in Juspion) shared a tribute on Instagram.
