Tsuburaya Reveals West Coast Premiere for ‘The Origin of Ultraman’

Tsuburaya Productions has officially announced the North American premiere of its newest documentary, The Origin of Ultraman, on Sunday, July 26, at Japan House in Los Angeles. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (PT). 

The event will begin with a screening of The Origin of Ultraman, a documentary that explores the creative foundations of the franchise, which redefined the superhero genre, highlighting how the 1966 series invited audiences to empathize with kaiju. This will also dive into the creative genius of Tokusatsu pioneer Eiji Tsuburaya and the creative visionary production team whose creativity pushed the boundaries of TV filmmaking in the 1960s. 

Following the screening will be a special Q&A featuring the documentary’s filmmakers, including Hirokazu Koreeda, alongside Ultraman: Rising directors Shannon Tindle and John Aoshima. They’ll be discussing Ultraman’s enduring influence on entertainment and the impact the franchise has had on numerous generations of creators and fans around the world. 

Tickets are now on sale, with only a limited number still available! This is an all-ages event taking place at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles, Salon Level 5, located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028. Admission is $20 per person. We hope everyone who is attending has a fantastic time!
