The Toho Visual Entertainment account on X has dropped a surprising announcement: NEW Godzilla 4Ks are coming!
A total of nine Godzilla films are being released across two waves. Four of these are re-releases of titles that were originally included in the 70th Anniversary Godzilla 4K Box Set in 2025, while five brand-new 4K releases will be joining the collection for the very first time!!
As with the previous 4K Tokusatsu releases, these are for the Japanese market only AND WILL NOT INCLUDE ENGLISH SUBTITLES. That said, for international collectors, importing them is always welcome! It’s still important to show support for these releases to show there’s a demand here in the States!
The first wave is set to come on December 16, 2026, followed by the second wave on February 17, 2027. Each film will have its proper 4K UHD and a standard Blu-Ray of the same 4K remaster…only in 1080p!
Now available for pre-order in the Godzilla Store and Amazon Japan! Godzilla Store editions will also include an exclusive reprint poster with each release.

What’s Left?
With these nine released accounted for, the Japanese Godzilla 4K is narrowly close to the finish line! There are still several films that have yet to receive their official standalone physical release. Though I must note, all of these films have been screened in Japanese theaters.

The sheer number of titles being upgraded is incredibly exciting. It’s going to be super weird yet mind-blowing to see the films we grew up with and adore in superb quality!
