‘Godzilla’ Composer Bear McCreary Announces New Album, West Coast Tour

The mind behind iconic soundtracks for franchises such as Godzilla and God of War is back with another album this summer, and he’s touring the West Coast to celebrate. Bear McCreary, best known to our audience as the composer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters and 10 Cloverfield Lane, has announced his newest project: a follow up to his 2024 symphonic metal project The Singularity. Titled The Singularity: Ekleipsis, the new album continues the epic metal saga of a damaged world in turmoil, and draws upon themes of disillusionment and perseverance through struggle. (In fact, the word Ekleipsis draws its name from the ancient Greek word meaning “abandonment.”)

Written primarily by McCreary and his younger brother Brendan (Crisis Couture, The Singularity), the new album will feature a star-studded lineup of guest musicians, including Joe Duplantier (Gojira), Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria), Jens Kidman (Meshuggah), Alissa White-Gluz, Tim Henson (Polyphia), Steve Vai, Slash, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Stewart Copeland (The Police), and more.

Bear McCreary expressed great enthusiasm about the project, stating “I need more cinematic metal in my life!” He added, “The Singularity: Ekleipsis builds upon the musical and narrative themes of my 2024 album The Singularity, and this time around it rocks even harder. My brother, vocalist/producer Brendan McCreary, and I were once again thrilled to partner with a number of inspiring artists for this record, each of whom brought their unique musical personalities and perspectives to the project.”
