If you ask a group of Godzilla fans what they want from Toho, you’ll eventually get an answer along the lines of “a remaster of the Pipeworks Godzilla trilogy,” something that fans have been demanding for the longest time. After an avalanche of Godzilla mobile games released over the past several years, those demands are louder than ever, loud enough that they have finally been heard. Earlier today, Dealabs Magazine reported that a remaster of the trilogy’s first installment, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, is in development by the game’s original developers, Pipeworks Software, and set to release on November 3rd (Godzilla Day) of this year.
According to the French outlet, fans can expect the game to be released for the Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 (physical media only), and Xbox Series X|S (digital only), with a price of $29.99 on PS5 and Xbox and $39.99 on the Switch. It is still unconfirmed whether or not the game will be coming to PC, but Dealabs Magazine has stated that it is “likely.” This news has also been corroborated by reputable industry insiders like Wario64 and major outlets such as DiscussingFilm, although an official announcement is yet to be had. It’s worth noting that tomorrow is the official Xbox Games Showcase to coincide with Summer Game Fest, and there is a rumored (but still unconfirmed at this time) June 2026 Nintendo Direct slated for June 9th next week.
Aside from the graphic improvements that come with a remaster, fans can also expect some new content from the game. For starters, players will have access to a new online multiplayer mode as well as local co-op. In addition to the one from the original game, additional single-player campaigns for each monster will also be available. There is currently no information on whether more monsters will be added to the game’s roster aside from the original 12, however, the remaster will feature a new system to unlock playable characters and locations.
In April 2025, Toho announced the development of Godzilla console games as part of their global expansion initiative, leaving fans hoping their wishes for a remaster of the Pipeworks trilogy would finally be granted. While it may not be the full trilogy, it definitely is a start, and a major step in the right direction. We know that Pipeworks has expressed interest and shares fans’ desires for a remaster of their Godzilla games, so perhaps Destroy All Monsters Melee is a test run and if it does well enough, Save The Earth & Unleashed won’t be too far behind.
