Cowboys & Dinosaurs Collide in New Teaser by ‘Primitive War’ Team

Look out Gwangi, the next rodeo is in town!

Sparke Films dropped a surprise teaser for their next project this morning, and to the surprise of many, it is not Primitive War 2! It is, however, very much up the alley of dinosaur fanatics around the globe. The new teaser throws us right into the heart of the Wild West, with a lone rider crossing a desert plain…. on a gigantic carnivorous raptor. As the cowboy crosses our horizon, we also see several other herbivorous creatures being herded as this setting’s version of cattle. The entire world seems to revolve around dinosaurs, with the title text in the teaser stating “THE WILD WEST WAS BUILT ON DINOSAURS.”

Appropriately titled Dinosaurs of the Wild West, the new ambitious project from the team behind last year’s cult favorite Primitive War will be “two cinematic episodes” and the beginning of something much, much bigger. Inspired by the artwork of creator Shaun Keenan and expanded into an original cinematic universe by filmmaker Luke Sparke (Primitive War), the project blends western frontier mythology with a world where dinosaurs and humans have existed side by side for generations. As we navigated the rise and fall of various civilizations, it was the dinosaur, rather than the horse, that gave us strategic advantage in battle and pulled our chariots. In the age of noble sheriffs and wicked outlaws, it seems whoever has the baddest dinosaur of them all might be the biggest in town.

“This is an opportunity for dinosaur enthusiasts , Primitive War fans and cinema buffs to be a part of the production process and create something the world has never seen. We want to create something that feels completely fresh while still capturing the sense ofwonder and adventure that first made us fall in love with dinosaur stories,” said Sparke.

The full trailer, project title, exclusive rewards and more will be unveiled when the official Kickstarter campaign goes live on July 7th 2026.
